Is this a good set up for a first Gaming PC?
XFX 750i SLI Motherboard
CPU: AMD 9600 Quad Core 2.3Ghz
Memory: 4GB
GeForce GTX 550 Ti Video Card
Hard Drive 640GB
CoolerMaster Case
CoolerMaster 550 PSU
Sony DVD RW Rom
64 in 1 Memory Card Reader
HDMI output
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Microsoft Office 2010
You got the power supply and the operating system right, but the other parts you chose are kind of old. Swap out that 550 Ti with a Radeon Hd 7790. Same price, better performance. And if you want to get a bit more pricey, jump for a 7850 or a 7870, you probably will be happy you spent the extra 50-75 dollars. You picked a really old cpu and the motherboard you chose isn't even the right socket type. You picked an intel motherboard for an Am2 chip... You wouldn't even be able to use the cpu and the Pc wouldn't work. The best chip for the price at the moment is the i53570k.. Thing is that price is $225.. Again though, you'll be glad you bought it. Just about any 3rd generation intel mobo will do but here's an example http://www.kphdtv.com/products/5x1-hdmi-spliiter-3d-support-full-hd-1080p-and-3d.html Also think about getting a bigger hard drive. Games take up a lot of space, upwards of 25 gbs a lot of the time and you'll probably do other things. Oh and you have no reason not to get 8Gb of ram, 4 isn't enough, ram is very cheap. No need for more than 8 at the moment though.
I know I just made your rig a lot more expensive, probably by a couple hundred dollars, but dude, trust me, it'll be worth it.
Also, I can't believe none of you guys even pointed out that this Pc wouldn't even work..
